Sea Chapel - Surf Photography - Broulee, NSW

Coffs Coast, NSW

Home is where the heart is. I have been shooting waves on the Coffs Coast for 14 years. Here is a break down of where the best waves can be found.

Parkies – An open beach with an island that feeds some great banks. This is great for mid to large swell and as a photographer, offers some great angles for shooting.

North Wall – Notorious for sharp banks and hollow waves when it is working. Needs a specific swell direction to truely pump. Nestled between the breakwall and Island, about 500m down beach.

Gallows – One of three beaches on the Coffs coast favorable for when the wind is blowing North.

Sapphire – Sharp bank that throws some serious hollow waves when the conditions are right. Needs some swell to work properly.

Moonee – A surfers delight. A trek through moonee creek leads to an open beach protected by a Southerly Headland. Operates similar to Parkies.

Emerald – This is the crown jewel on the coffs coast and possiby the best suburb in Australia. A front beach protected from Southeries, a back beach protected from northerlies. It is truely the best spot.

Sawtell – The southern suburb offers 4 unique waves. Trappies is great if the southerlies are harsh and the banks are right. It sits on a river mouth, so banks are temperamental. Main beach and Island offer a similar ride to Parkies. Southies is the third option on the Coffs Coast for those summer Northerlies.

And that’s all I’m talking about. My absolute favourite spot and long boarders dream will stay off the list. There are more waves than those above, but if your in the area, that should get your hunt on.
