Eyre Peninsula and Yorke Peninsula, South Australia

If you’re chasing waves in South Australia, the Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas offer an incredible, yet vastly different, surfing experience.

The Wild Eyre Peninsula

The Eyre Peninsula feels raw—rugged, untamed, and naturally diverse. From the powerful breaks of the Nullarbor to the pristine beaches of Lincoln National Park, this region offers an unforgettable surfing adventure. Every turn along the coastline reveals another hidden gem, but even with two weeks to explore, it quickly became clear that it wasn’t enough. There’s always another wave, another secret spot waiting to be discovered.

The Nostalgic Yorke Peninsula

In contrast, the Yorke Peninsula feels like stepping back in time. Slower-paced and steeped in history, it’s a region that rewards those who know where to go. We found ourselves staying about 100 km north of the main surf spots—too far to truly experience the best of what Yorke has to offer. Next time, we’ll head straight to where the swell delivers. Lessons learned, boards waxed, and ready for round two.

South Australia’s surf scene is one for the adventurous. Whether it’s the raw power of the Eyre Peninsula or the old-school charm of the Yorke, one thing is for sure—there’s always a reason to come back.
