North East Tasmania

There is something raw about the energy, the landscape, and the people of Tasmania. While hunting for waves, it often felt like we might have missed the perfect setups by a day. This has been a recurring theme for our trip around Australia. When the conditions are right, there might not be many better places for surfing than the northeast of Tasmania.

We based ourselves out of St Helens for 10 days, exploring an hour north and an hour south in search of beaches that would hold a wave.

This might not be the best spot to gamble on if you have a tight window, but why wouldn’t you bring your board just in case you found the perfect conditions?
