Lancelin, Western Australia

Surfing in Lancelin, just 90 mins north or Perth, takes you back to small coastal towns, parking on the beach and watching the waves roll in

90 mins north of Perth you’ll find a sleepy fishing village called Lancelin. What you may not know is that there is a decent back beach with stunning clear waters rolling some fun waves.

Not only that, I caught my first (and currently only) Snapper off the Jetty in town. Crazy.

This spot wasn’t on our radar at all but I’m glad we stayed the week. It was our first taste of howling Western Australia winds. For our first two days it was intense, a real welcome to Windy As. But once the conditions lightened, the fishing became more fun and the surfing picked up.

Being so close to Perth, and hearing stories of old from locals who would camp in the dunes in the 90’s for weeks on end, I am surprised not more people have been talking about this spot.

Thinking of Surfing in Lancelin? Book the weekend with crew, head up the coast, whined back the clock and enjoy the days of old.
